Drinking

I've just been listening to BBC Radio 4's program "Calling Time on the Binge Drinkers"

And I'd like to point out something that I think they missed: shared experience.
There are not many 'safe' (as in- normally acceptable) and affordable ways to have such good bonding experiences with friends; a successful evening of intoxication often involves the accidental sharing of secrets, insufferable jokes and incidences, which can be an unrivaling source of teasing and leverage for months afterwards.
Even amongst friends, us Brits can be rubbishly slow at getting this level of friendship going, which is arguably worth the £25 million damages cost per year. For the individual anyway.
